At the opening of the Namaste Sculpture in Bussy-Saint-Georges, Pujya Anandswarup Swami reflected on the deeper meaning behind the timeless gesture of namaste.

More than a welcome, it is an expression of humility, respect and recognition of the dignity within every person.

He shared how humility opens us to three qualities: the willingness to learn from others, appreciate the goodness in others, and serve others.

“When our ego becomes smaller, our desire to serve others becomes greater.”

The Namaste Sculpture therefore welcomes more than visitors. It welcomes friendship, understanding and mutual respect — values that can bring people and cultures closer together.
