Yogiji Maharaj Parva - Day 6

Yogiji Maharaj: The Founder of the College of Brahmavidhya - His Love

Yogiji Maharaj’s Love:

It is fair to say his love for his sadhus and haribhaktas had no limits – completely pure and unconditional. Mahant Swami Maharaj described Yogiji Maharaj in Satsang Diksha Shloka 311-314 as “saday vatsalya bhina'' meaning “forever affectionate”. His motto was “Bhagwan saunu bhalu karo'' meaning “God, please look after everyone”. Today, we’ll take a look at a few prasangs to show his love.

Washing the clothes of haribhaktas

Younger people were the special charge of Yogiji Maharaj. He would mix with them freely and do things in such a manner that they would be inspired to follow his example. Once he was visiting East Africa. He went inside the bathroom in the mandir in Dar-es-Salaam. On seeing a pile of clothes belonging to some youths he locked the bathroom and happily started washing them. It was only when he came out that everyone realised that Swami had washed the youths' clothes. He did this out of pure love for his haribhaktas, without any regard for his status.

In The Service of Devotees

The 85th birth anniversary of Shastriji Maharaj was being celebrated at Atladara. A lot of people had come from different places and finding a place to sleep was a problem. At 11 p.m. C.T. Patel, who had come from Mombasa, was looking for a spot to sleep. The clock struck 12 midnight and he could not find an inch of space to lie down. He then reached the kitchen where he found Yogiji Maharaj sitting and telling beads. As he went up to him Yogi Bapa asked, "Have you not slept?"

"It is all right, but why are you awake? You look tired and yet why are you staying up late?"

Yogiji Maharaj smiled and said, "You see we are celebrating a festival. And devotees may come late at night, so one has to serve them." Saying this he got up and found a place for C.T. Patel to sleep.

16 th May 2023, London – Mahant Swami Maharaj recounts his experience with Yogiji Maharaj

I was a Yuvak. At Anand Mandir, Yogi Bapa was seated on a platform and I was slightly lower. At that moment, our eyes met. Our eyes had met many times before but at that moment, I felt a moment of magic that everything else became irrelevant. Through this association with satsang, I was able to experience this. It was like I was staring a new life…

Everyday, we used to meet but one time he said, “Vinu…ayo?” – “Vinu, you’ve come?”. That action and speech… so much love… like we say, the love of infinite people, in just a second. Happiness, happiness… he won over my mind.
