Guru Purnima Parva - Day 7

Pragat

Stuti: [(Shrimad Sadgun Shālinam…), Jaynād (1 min)]

Dhun: [Bhaj Man Swāminārāyan  - Anirdesh Kirtan Muktavali (3 mins)]

Gun Grahan: [Write down 3 qualities of people you have met, seen, or heard about this week, and share these with your family.]

Kirtan: Pramukh Swami ma Pragat Rahya Che Purushottam Maharaj

When it comes to ‘Pragat’ what do we think of immediately? What is your first thought?

Let us discover some Swamini Vaato here and contemplate on their meaning:

  • Then Swami said, “One whose guru is Akshar will take one to Akshardham and will unite one with Purushottam.”

“Jenā Akṣhar guru hoy te Akṣhardhāmmā laī jāy ne Puruṣhottamne meḷave.” Aksharbrahman (35.6) / (6/264)

  • I have been observing for tens of millions of years, but there is no Sadhu like this one on the whole of this huge earth.

Ame to koṭi kalp thayā joīe chhīe, paṇ pachās koṭi jojan pṛuthvīmā āvā Sādhu nathī. Glory of the Sadhu (30.28) / (1/291)

  • At present Maharaj gives darshan and discourses through the Sadhu, and gives darshan through the murti.

Have to Mahārāj Sādhu dvāre darshan āpe chhe, ne vātu kare chhe, ne vaḷī mūrti dvāre darshan āpe chhe. Glory of the Sadhu (30.27) / (1/290)

  • God’s abode cannot be obtained even after tens of millions of years, but is attained by merely folding one’s hands to such a God-realised Sadhu.

Koṭi kalpe Bhagwānnu dhām na maḷe, te āvā Sādhune hāth joḍe eṭalāmā maḷe chhe. Glory of the Sadhu (30.14) / (1/121)

  • After a guru is attained, if the miseries of rebirth, etc. are not removed, then he is not a true guru.

Guru maḷyā pachhī shiṣhyane garbhavās vagere dukhno trās maṭyo nathī to te guru ja nathī. Glory of the Sadhu (30.60) / (5/44)

  • We have attained God and his holy Sadhu, so moksha is assured, but without spiritual wisdom, inner peace is not attained.

Bhagwān maḷyā, Sādhu maḷyā, te kalyāṇ to thāshe paṇ gnān vinā antarmā sukh na thāy. Spiritual Wisdom-Understanding-Ignorance (26.15) / (1/240)

Let us look at one small Vachanamrut here now:

Remembering the Divine Actions and Incidents of God

On the night of Māgshar sudi 6, Samvat 1876 [23 November 1819], Shriji Mahārāj was sitting in Dādā Khāchar’s darbār in Gadhadā. He was dressed entirely in white clothes. At that time, an assembly of munis as well as devotees from various places had gathered before Him.

Thereupon Shriji Mahārāj said, “Even one who can constantly see the form of God in his heart should recall the divine actions and incidents of God performed in His various avatārs in various places. He should also maintain affection for the brahmachāris, sādhus and satsangis and should remember them as well. Why? Because if at the time of death he forgets God’s form but remembers the divine actions and incidents performed by Him at various places, or if he remembers those satsangis, brahmachāris or sādhus, then by that association, God’s form will also be remembered. Thereby, that person attains an elevated spiritual status and benefits tremendously. That is why I perform grand Vishnu-yāgs; annually celebrate Janmāshtami , Ekādashi and other observances; and gather brahmachāris, sādhus and satsangis on these occasions. After all, even if a sinner remembers these occasions at the time of his death, he will also attain the abode of God.”

  • Out of compassion Maharaj came to this Earth to bless us all. How fortunate are we!?
  • What are some of your favourite Prasangs of our Gurus? Share them together.

This whole week, we have been celebrating Guru Purnima. So far, what have we learnt about our Guru’s virtues? How can we try and be like Them? What does it mean to have the Pragat Satpurush? Let us focus on what we can do to imbibe the virtues of our Gurus in our lives. One way to do that is through Prathna. Let us sing together the below Prathna and really focus on the words of the Prathna:

Mahābaḷvant māyā tamārī, jeṇe āvariyā narnārī;

Evu vardān dījiye āpe, eh māyā amne na vyāpe... 1

Valī tamāre vishe jīvan, nāve manushya buddhi koī dan;

Je je līlā karo tame Lāl, tene samju alaukik khyāl... 2

Satsangī je tamārā kahāve, teno kedī abhāv na āve;

Desh kāḷ ne kriyāe karī, kedī tamne na bhuliye Hari... 3

Kām krodh ne lobh kumati, moh vyāpīne na fare mati;

Tamne bhajtā āḍu je paḍe, māgiye e amne na naḍe... 4

Etlu māgiye chhaiye ame, dejyo dayā karī Hari tame;

Vaḷī na māgiye ame jeh, tame suṇī lejyo Hari teh... 5

Kedī desho mā dehābhimān, jeṇe karī visro Bhagwān;

Kedī kusangno sang ma dejyo, adharma thakī ugārī lejyo... 6

Kedī desho mā sansārī sukh, desho mā Prabhu vās vimukh;

Desho mā Prabhu jakt motāī, mad matsar īrshā kāī... 7

Desho mā deh sukh sanyog, desho mā harijanno viyog;

Desho mā harijanno abhāv, desho mā ahamkārī swabhāv... 8

Desho mā sang nāstikno rāy, melī tamne je karmane gāy;

E ādi nathī māgtā ame, desho mā dayā karīne tame... 9

Pachhī boliyā Shyāmsundar, jāo āpyo tamne e var;

Mārī māyāmā nahī munjhao, dehādikmā nahi bandhāo... 10

Mārī kriyāmā nahi āve dosh, mane samajsho sadā adosh;

Em kahyu thaī raḷiyāt, sahue satya karī mānī vāt... 11

Dīdhā dāsne fagvā evā, bīju koṇ samarth evu devā;

Em ramyā rangbhar hoḷī, Hari sāthe harijan ṭoḷī... 1
