Prasang Reading (3 mins):

An Ideal Approach

In the evening, swamis from surendranagar along with Sanjaybhai parikh, a devotee who has been assisting in the construction of BAPS Mandir for many years, provided several construction - related updates for the new mandir that is being built in surendranagar. During the meeting, swamishri acknowledge and appreciate Sanjaybhai’s long standing seva commitment and contributions. Sanjaybhai said, “When i was studying at IIT, Mahant Swami Maharaj would write a letter to me every month,” emphasizing the timely support and guidance that Swamishri had personally provided.

Then, the swamis mentioned, “Sanjaybhai lives an incredibly simple life. He is [like] a swami in white [housholder] clothes. He has no expectations whatsoever for food or accommodations.”

Hearing this, Swamishri became very pleased and said, “Then only work can be done, correct?” While praising his simplicity, Swamishri added, “If one is [preoccupied with a] showy appearance, then the work is not completed[appropriately].”

By recognizing the manner in which Sanjaybhai performs seva, Swamishri guides us to perform seva without pomp or any expectation and with the singular aim to please Maharaj and Swami.

Discussion Points:

Group 1: (6-9yrs)

  1. What do you think it means to live a simple life? Do you think it's good to have lots of things or to live in a simple way like Sanjaybhai?
  2. Sanjaybhai worked very hard to help build the mandir. What are some things you can do to help your family, friends, or community?
  3. Why do you think Swamishri was so happy with Sanjaybhai’s simple way of living and helping others?
  4. Sanjaybhai remembered how Swamishri helped him a lot when he was studying. How can we show gratitude to people who help us, like our parents, teachers, or friends?

Group 2: (10-13yrs)

  1. Swamishri said that seva should be done with the aim of pleasing Maharaj and Swami. What does this mean to you? How can we keep our actions aligned with these values?
  2. Swamishri appreciated how Sanjaybhai had been consistent and dedicated in his seva, even when it wasn't easy. How can we develop that kind of dedication in our own lives?
  3. In what ways can we follow Swamishri’s teaching of simplicity and selfless service in our daily routines
  4. Why do you think Swamishri praised Sanjaybhai's simple lifestyle? How can living simply help us focus better on the things that really matter in life?

Family Activity - [Seva circle]:

  1. Take a big piece of paper
  2. Draw a big circle
  3. Divide the circle according to family members
  4. Now think how would you do seva of that family member during the week
  5. It can be anything like cleaning table, doing bed, helping in kitchen, etc..
  6. This activity will help you think about the importance of seva and being kind to each other, also will help bring the whole family together.
