(Vachanamrut Loya-18: Conviction of God)

Extract:

“Then you may ask, ‘What is the form of that God like?’ Well, the answer is that God is characterized by eternal existence, consciousness and bliss and possesses a form full of divine light. In every single pore of His body, there is light equivalent to millions and millions of suns. Moreover, that God is so handsome that He puts even millions of Kāmdevs to shame. He is the lord of countless millions of brahmānds, the king of kings, the controller of all, the antaryāmi of all, and extremely blissful. Before His bliss, the pleasure of seeing countless beautiful women pales into insignificance. In fact, before the bliss of the form of that God, the pleasures of the vishays of this realm and the higher realms pale into insignificance. Such is the form of God. That form always has two arms, but by His wish, He may appear to have four arms, or sometimes to have eight arms, or He may even be seen as having a thousand arms.

Discussion Points:

  1. The same way Shriji Maharaj has described the beauty and presence of God, when or if we have seen Mahant Swami Maharaj, do we feel the same way?
  2. When we go to mandir, can we feel a divine presence? How does it make you feel?
  3. When you close your eyes and do dhyan of Bhagwan, what do you see / in what form do you see him?
  4. How can we use the knowledge of prapti (what we have attained) and what we have attained and convert that feeling into pratiti (firm affirmation) of Shriji Maharaj, Gunatitanand Swami and their divine forms?
  5. If you had 4 or 6 hands like Maharaj has described, what would you do?
  6. What is your personal favourite smruti with Mahant swami maharaj or Pramukh swami maharaj which whenever you think of fills you with joy?
  7. And discuss how lucky all of us are to have attained a pragat and pratyaksh guru like Mahant Swami Maharaj, who is the same person that Shriji Maharaj describes in this vachanamrut and all these are always seen in the pragat satpurush.

Activity - Murti me to banāvi majāni:

  1. In your family go one by one and describe in as much detail as you can, the murti of bhagwan swaminarayan in any mandir you have ever went to or even seen on tv.
  2. Then you can also in detail describe the best shanagar you’ve seen on the murtis, for example what type/color mugat he was wearing and what colour rumal he was holding.
  3. Get a piece of paper and draw all the vagha, using the precise colour, from your memory of the last time you went to mandir for darshan.
